In the last issue of the icky hipster rag, “Vice Magazine,” Queer film director and legend Bruce La Bruce wrote an editorial calling out “Uncle Tom Fags” “Straights” and Gay twentysomething hipsters that read Vice. Considering the recent drama between queer anarchists, non queer anarchists, and those negating their identity; we thought this article was fitting to post. It should be noted that much of this article is based in humor. We hope that you will be smart enough to separate the camp from reality. May this bring more to our discussion.

I Hate Straights – Bash Back, Fags.
Forget about fag bashing. It’s time for a little equal opportunity straight bashing. When I was a sissy homo punk in the 80s, big macho het boys with foot-tall Mohawks and Crass jackets, conveniently setting their radical, anarcho-leftist leanings aside for a moment, would punch me in the nose for showing queer super-8 movies in punk venues. Their avowed neo-Nazi skinhead enemies at the same show, now united in homo hatred, would run over and spit on me in solidarity. My punk dyke friends would form a human shield, but the damage was already done. From that point on, I would dedicate much of my work to pushing overt homosexuality into the faces of heterosexuals, both virulent homophobes and liberal bleeding hearts alike.
It’s the femmie homosexual people can’t stand the most, especially if he’s sexually aggressive and unapologetic about it, so that’s the image we set out to promote. We used to refer to heterosexuals as breeders back then. Child-hating W. C. Fields was our idol, and we loved Roman Polanski in The Tenant—you know, the part where, dressed in drag, he walks over to a little boy in a park and slaps him across the face for no reason. Why do people who breed think they’re so special, we puzzled, bringing a kid into this overpopulated, war-ravaged world, desperately trying to grasp onto some pathetic shard of immortality? In the sage words of Kim and Kelley Deal (of the Breeders, no less), “If you’re so special, why aren’t you dead?”
At my university there was a group called the League Against Homosexuals. Their motto, spread on leaflets across campus, was “Queers don’t produce, they seduce.” I adopted their credo as my own in the most public way possible. But today, twentysomething homosexuals, especially the ones who read Vice, think it’s cool to be discreet about their faggotry, to act as if it doesn’t have any effect on the rest of their lives or anyone else’s. We used to call that “the closet.”
So, queer bashing is still necessary. (Somebody should take the “Fag Five” of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy out into a back alley and hospitalize them for promoting the image of gays as materialistic breeder-lovers.) But how about a little straight bashing, too? I think everyone needs a good beating. Uncle Tom fags need it. Straight-acting fags and straights alike need it. Bash them all. Anyone who is complicit in the user-friendly fag trend should have their knees broken. The only people I don’t feel like bashing lately are mincing queens and actual fag bashers.
The next time you see a hetero couple holding hands, run over and yell “Herpes-carrying breeder” at them and punch them in the nose. You’ll feel better for it. Join the homosexual intifada.

Comment by hospitalizedhetero November 12, 2009 @ 12:27 amI don’t think it’s very funny either, it’s alienating to queers with kids, like me. I also don’t like the use of “straight” to mean non-queer, that usage is trans-exclusive since transfolx can be straight. And this whole queerer than thou attitude is bull shit.
Comment by QueerCoup November 12, 2009 @ 2:01 amget over it. this is a valid analysis coming out of 80s and early 90s queer organizing. The language might not be up to date but the message is pretty clear. that queer people need to start defending themselves and playing straight

Comment by deehn November 12, 2009 @ 2:55 amblahblah, bruce labruce still trying to be the vanguard of some macho fag revolution. heterocide, fine, it totally makes sense. but what’s with that “uncle tom” bullshit, another white gay trying to use the american black experience to talk about sellouts. and that herpes crack at the end was so great, so very vice magazine. This man’s politics are fucked, but obviously some breeders need a kicking every now and then.
Comment by mayo November 12, 2009 @ 4:13 amI think this post is insulting. The queer movement applies to everyone who is searching for sexual freedom. You can be a straight Cis gendered male, but still be in support of everyone being able to express their own sexual/gender identity. What about the straight transgendered individuals? you insult them as well. I have many straight friends who support me and my gender identity. I am not going to set out and start bashing people who are in the closet with themselves. This is not a hate group against straight people. This is a group dedicated to liberating and uniting all people who are sexually repressed by religion, capitalism, and patriarchy.
Comment by Michelle maxwell November 12, 2009 @ 4:16 amI will have no part in your misguided anger.
since when did you decide what bb is…..
i dont care if you’re insulted…..
Comment by bb November 12, 2009 @ 8:43 pmOkay, so when did ‘queer’ cease to mean the total destruction of straightness?
Straightness does not equal hetero sex, or ‘opposite gender’ sex. It is normality and everything that tries to kill us.
The arguments that this is somehow transphobic are bullshit. Straight transpeople, like straight gay people, have a disease, and it’s called straightness. Get over it!
We here at Ex-Straight Ministries truly believe there is hope for everyone who has this unfortunate condition.
Comment by Ex-Straight Ministries November 12, 2009 @ 11:21 pmI’m 62 yrs.old and don’t trust very many straights. A long handled spoon is how I treat them. They can pounce and bite you and if the shit hits the fan they will make sure you are splattered first. Nope not me. Don’t trust them, don’t like them, never did and never will. Make an ally cry tell them you don’t really like them and to go home and wash their dishes. I hate it when straight leftists try to tell us what is right and what is wrong for us. Push them over, pull their hair.
And don’t get me started on the meme’s in the g&l movement or the closeted homo’s. They will send you up the river as quick as they can.
Hey kids, I love you keep up the good fight.

If this article is such an anachronism why is it relevant enough to post here? What is playing straight? Does that include transfolk who are straight or is it gays and lesbians who’s gender expression matches their gender? Are closeted queers somehow not queer or radical enough? Who are you to decide?
Comment by QueerCoup November 13, 2009 @ 1:06 amQueerCoup: “What is playing straight?”
As queers we understand Normalcy. Normal is the tyranny of our condition; reproduced in all of our relationships. Normalcy is violently reiterated in every minute of every day. We understand this Normalcy as the Totality. The Totality being the interconnection and overlapping of all oppression and misery. The Totality is the state. It is capitalism. It is civilization and empire. The totality is fence-post crucifixion. It is rape and murder at the hands of the police. It is “Str8 Acting” and “No Fatties or Femmes.” It is Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. It is the brutal lessons taught to those who can’t achieve Normal. It is every way we’ve limited ourselves or learned to hate our bodies. We understand Normalcy all too well.

I get to have a decision on what my local bb chapter represents in my city because I am an active participant. Fuck yes I feel we should be out of the closets and into the streets while liberating areas from heteronormative control. Yes I will bash back and beat the shit out of those who attempt to bash me or other queers simply for expressing who they are. Though I draw the line when you tell me to attack people out of hate when they have done nothing physically or emotionally harmful to myself or any other queers. I do understand your rage, I too have the urge to punch the lesbian that tells my boyfriend “You are entitled to your opinion, but you have been and always will be a woman.” Though hitting her would do no good for me or my partner. I tell the dyke to piss off and let her continue to be a worthless piece of shit. Unless she wants to start a fight or she emotionally traumatizes my partner she isn’t worth my fucking precious time.
Yeah I do not speak for the entire autonomous group and I do not pretend that I can speak for it aside from the points of unity. This site doesn’t speak for all of the ideas that are in bb! either. The points of unity never said anything about needing to have such hate for heterosexuals (including allies) that I must actively bash any that participate in anything remotely monogamous between two cisgendered heterosexual people. Identity politics are always breeding grounds for separatist hate movements and I am fucking sick of it.

Comment by purple straight eater November 14, 2009 @ 2:40 amI’m beginning to notice an ugly trend:
1. The start of a switch from action back to debate.
The diary of actions by twin cities bash back in between this post and the one calling straight folk out got no posts, while both of these two are considered post-worthy. And the David Carter action only got attention because people wanted to debate whether a completely different action was or wasn’t “reverse racist”.
And the second, similar thread is:
2. An over concern for what straight folk think.
No straight folk were offended by this post. Any who claim to be are simply playing the martyr.
And no one, except an assimilationist gay worried about offending straights would take this article seriously. Bruce LaBruce also has movies about radical leftists gays and skinhead gays. He’s not being serious about shit, he’s purposely trying to create controversy to push queer issues up. But assimilationists have shown a remarkable ability to make sure the controversy happens amongst their own community, that way Mr. Breeder wont get his feelings hurt.
So I’m worried that this article was considered worth posting, but I’m doubly worried how many cried about it.
Stop fucking framing your shit around straight kids’ opinions. They can love us, they can hate us. Doesn’t really matter either way.
Comment by J. November 13, 2009 @ 5:14 pmRAAAAHHHH!!! THIS ARTICLE IS TERRIBLE! WE’LL NEVER LIBERATE ANYTHING AS LONG AS WE ARE OPPRESSING POOR LIL HETEROSEXUALS! ;_;
GRRRRRR!!! THIS ARTICLE IS JUST FOR FUNZIES, & FUK YOU FOR TRYING TO ASSIMLISCILENCE MY ANGERRRRRRRR!! D:<
Blah blah blah.
Comment by Phi November 17, 2009 @ 8:29 pmI am afraid that somebody will take this too seriously especially the attacking breeders part.
me and my girlfriend are both cisgendered bisexual crossdressers but a lot of the time we would look like any other male female couple. does that make us ‘less queer’ because I don’t wear skirts and glitter EVERY day?
I think BB should have a lot less cis-hate and bi/hetero hate. it seems to me like a lot of bbers want bb to be about trans and gay liberation not human or queer liberation. to hate all heteros is to sink to the level of the patriarchal homophobes whose existence made bb necessary. I know plenty of heteros who don’t hate so why should we hate them?
love you all,
