I think that in a lot of contexts the word "thug" is racialized. But nobody from BB! MKE means it in such a context. In dealing with police, I think the term is applicable. Specifically because it immediately followed a denouncement their bullshit racist and transphobic actions. I do think the implications of the word should be critiqued though.

WAY TO GO! we didnt get shit done for remembrance day, but as a tranny I took that day to cry and drink and visit. SO THANK YOU ALL!!! We have a flier for Duanna that will get out this week. The only critique I have is in the action claim... Should we be using words like "thug?" I was thinking Last summer Liberals organized a march here that was in response to a number of murders of womyn in our Neighborhood. One of the chants the liberals started was "thugs-out!" This neighborhood is predominately black community, so our group stopped it cause we felt it was racist. Or at least could be taken as racist. Just a thought. there ARE connotations that we should keep in mind. We are white dominated after all.
what do you think? -BB! Lansing

It would be amusing for the cross necklace to be readopted as a sign someone is gay.

Maybe have a gay-cross day. Kind of like the gay jeans day or gay red-shirt day.
