Greetings from Australia, I would just like to voice my support for your action, it must have been tremendously empowering to stand up so directly against the forces that confront us and to delegitimise the respect that is given to oppressors spewing hatred and calling it ‘faith’. It was this type of action that was crucial in getting homosexuality delisted as a mental illness. If the battle against homophobia is to be won it is crucial to stop homophobia being seen as another point of view or a legitimate part of people’s religion. More power to you!

Although I question the effectiveness of this tactic in attaining the goal of planting the seeds of freedom in the minds of young queers attending this church, i nevertheless fully support it. Churches like this are not places of worship,they are political brainwashing institutions. As long as religions can propigate and agitate their own political ideologies while freely attacking ours, then they should expect the same in return. Religions, especially this particular one, are not agents of nuetrality. They are actively pursuing a very clear political agenda which needs to be opposed.
To me, this tactic played a much more important role for those personally involved to confront their own personal demons…especially for those bash back activists who are themselves survivors of this church or others similar to it.
I myself have fantisized for years of going back to the church i was raised in and standing up and publically confronting the hypocracy and hatred espoused there. I hope that your action inspires others to do the same.
Currently you folks in bash back need to do a better job at getting your message out to the public about the political and personal importance of queers fighting back against the types of organized hatred that this church represents. This particular action is creating quite a backlash of its own, and I fear that you will be swamped by this backlash if your message as to why you did this action is not more effectively disseminated.

I just want to express solidarity with you. This action sounds like it was well thought out, successfull and, well, fun. Everyone — even straight people like myself — has a MHC in their life they would like to confront like this. Go Bash Back!
